iPODs - Industrial, Possibilities, & Opportunity Days!!
Dream It. Do It. is a Manufacturing Careers Campaign that reaches out to young adults, grabs their imagination by tapping into their passions and opens their eyes to the satisfying, high-paying careers available in manufacturing. Developed by the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute, the campaign seeks to foster economic development and encourage robust growth by developing the skilled workforce necessary to fuel them.
Chautauqua County is the first county in the state of New York to participate this successful campaign. Manufacturing is the largest contributor to economic growth in our nation and we want to work together to keep Manufacturing Careers alive in Chautauqua County.
Dream It. Do It. is an initiative led by the Manufacturing Technology Institute, the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier and will formally launch and kick-off the "Dream It. Do It." campaign with iPODs - Industrial, Possibilities, & Opportunity Days!!
iPODs will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 and Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Jamestown Community College gymnasium as a high energy symposium style event.
On Friday, October 16 the event will host students from the Chautauqua County School Districts from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 17 the event will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The goal is to have area manufacturers presenting information on the types of careers offered in their respective businesses as well as displays of some of the products they manufacture. We will also be soliciting vendors that supply equipment to area manufacturers to participate and display their latest technology. In addition to this we are going to be developing a virtual manufacturing cell that will allow attendees to be able to walk the manufacturing process of a part from start to finish concluding with the product being on display in application. For this event we are targeting a helicopter bearing displayed in a helicopter donated for the event by the Chautauqua County Sheriffs' Department.
We would like to have as many local manufacturers as possible participate. If you would like to be a part of this important event contact Dave Johnson at (716) 490-0063 or email at djohnson@chautauquachamber.org.
